Richard W. Towry

Richard W. Towry passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at his home Edge, TX surrounded by the love of his family.

Dick was born May 21, 1938 to Fleming and Bessie Lee Towry in Navasota. Navasota is where the hospital was but he moved frequently as his dad was employed with in the oil and gas industry as well. They landed in Sour Lake in his teenage years where he stayed until his oilfield career began his whirlwind of moves. The community of Edge became his home in the late 90’s and that is where he spent his remaining days. 

At the young age of 23, Dick married the love his life, Miss Billie Jean Duncan. Three days after the wedding, he received his letter in the mail and was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served with pride and after his honorable discharge embarked on his career in the oil and gas industry. After 25 years with Texaco, Dick tipped his hat and began enjoying a well-deserved retirement. He spent his days hunting in the great outdoors, but mostly spending time with family. His pride and joy were his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was proud of a beautiful family.

Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Jean. He is survived by his two daughters, Jan McGee and Belle (Rodd) Pagel; three grandchildren, Jared, Wacey, and Shane; as well as his three great-grandchildren, Kinsley, Blakely, and Cameron.

Dick's legacy of hard work, dedication, and love for his family will forever be cherished. May he rest in peace knowing he is deeply loved and never forgotten.
