Marion Toothaker Fitch passed away Monday September 8 in Bryan, Texas.  A celebration of life will be held at 3:00p.m. on Friday, September 12, 2014 at Hillier Funeral Home, 2301 E. 29th Street in Bryan. Her cremains will be interred in her beloved Colorado retreat.

She was born July 13, 1925 to Henry and Minnie (Scott) Toothaker in Alamo and graduated from PSJA High School. When her husband, Dr. James Forrest Fitch, was deployed to Korea Marion returned to the Valley with her young son.  Following the Korean conflict, they made their home in McAllen where Dr. Fitch practiced medicine for 50 years. Following Dr. Fitch’s passing Marion moved to Bryan to be closer to her daughter.

Marion was an active member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church.  She was past-president of Junior League of McAllen, a member of P.E.O. Chapter DS, 20th Century Book Club, Hidalgo Starr Medical Auxiliary and her Birthday Club.  In her leisure time Marion enjoyed tennis and actively played bridge.

Marion is survived by her son, Tim Fitch and wife Debbie of Beeville; daughters, Cindy Alvarez and husband Freddy of Bryan, and Katy Marshall and husband Mike of Sugarland; daughter-in-law, Debbie Smith of Marble Falls; and her beloved canine companion, Trapper.  Her other canine companion, Michen, recently passed away after sixteen years in their home.  Marion also leaves behind grandchildren, Philip and Rebecca Fitch, Heather and Todd Smith, Melissa and Kelly Brown, Misty and Nate Davis, Kasey Fitch, Mason Fitch, Harrison Balog, Cameron Balog, Benjamin and Jessica Marshall, and Travis Marshall; great-grandchildren, Taylor Smith, Madison Smith, Noah Davis, Lillie Davis, Ellie Roosa and Joshua Fitch; and sisters, Jeannette Hudler and Lucille McKeever.

Her husband of 65 years, Dr. James Forrest Fitch; son, Jeffrey Fitch; grandson, Justin Fitch; brother, Scott Toothaker; and sister, Patty Donahue preceded her in death.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Interim Home Health for their wonderful care of Marion.
