Larry Dean Mariott

May 31, 1952 — June 10, 2024

College Station, TX

Larry Dean Mariott, age 72, of College Station, Texas, went to be with the Lord on June 10, 2024, surrounded by his family. Larry was born on May 31, 1952, in Gatesville, Texas. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, boss, and friend.

Larry was a dedicated family man known for his hard work, dedication, honesty, selflessness, and loyalty. He cherished spending time with his loved ones and was always there for his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

In his professional life, Larry had a successful career in the homebuilding industry. He was the Founder and Owner of Mariott Homes where he built thousands of homes for people all over the Brazos Valley for over 50 years. Prior to homebuilding, Larry worked in public relations for the Postal Service. Growing up, Larry started his own lawn mowing business and then worked as a Chef and then Manager at Kim’s Drive In Restaurant throughout High School.

Larry believed in serving his community through his volunteer efforts. He is a Past President of the Greater Brazos Valley Builders Association and held various board and committee positions within the organization. He served on the College Station City Council. During his tenure, he also served as Mayor Pro Tem, representing the City at the site of the Bonfire collapse. In 2009, Larry was given the Economic Impact Award by The Brazos Valley Economic Development Corporation. He held other volunteer positions with the Bryan-College Station Economic Development Corporation and The College Station Planning and Zoning Board. He was passionate in his support of various youth groups, such as Brazos County Youth Livestock, Epilepsy Foundation, Junior Diabetes Research Foundation, Little League Baseball, and Lil’ Wranglers. In addition, he was an avid Aggie fan and supporter of the Texas A&M University 12th Man Foundation and The Association of Former Students.

In Larry’s formative years, he was a proud member of the Class of 1970 at Robinson High School and served as Vice-President of the Senior Class. He was Team Captain on the football team where he played tackle and linebacker.

Larry was known for his work ethic, but it was the time with his wife, kids, and grandkids that he truly cherished. Whether it was sporting events, snow skiing, hunting trips, shooting competitions, vacations, or family cookouts, Larry’s love for all those things was purely for the time with his family. He was the epitome of a true family man.

In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to “The Larry Mariott Foundation.” Your gift will be distributed to three charities that were near and dear to Dad’s heart. The Epilepsy Foundation has been instrumental in the care for his granddaughter Penelope. The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation continues the quest for a cure for Type 1 Diabetes which would greatly impact his granddaughter, Ava Grace. And lastly, The Cancer Clinic of Bryan-College Station, who loved our Dad dearly in his last year. We found overwhelming love and care for the man we love most when we were all the most scared.
