Joyce Marie Oliver

Joyce Marie Oliver, 80, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2024, surrounded by family. Joyce was born on March 4, 1944, to Bessie Ruth and Charles Lewis Simpson, Sr. of Dexter, MO. 

Their family moved to Michigan in the early 1950s. Joyce gave birth to three beautiful daughters, Colleen Marie Waller, Beverly Ann Lambert, and Fay Beth Conley. They all worked together in a restaurant, Machus Sly Fox. She met her husband Paul, bowling in league together. They were later married on October 4, 1974

In April of 1982, they moved to Texas, where Joyce was the head cashier for Apple Tree on Hwy 21 until 2016 when she retired. After retirement, in 2017, Joyce and Paul moved to Las Vegas. They spent the next 13 years in Las Vegas living the retired life before moving back to Texas in 2021 to be close to their daughters and their families. 

Preceding her in death are her parents, Bessie Ruth (Melton) and Charles Lewis Simpson, Sr., brother, Jack Simpson, and granddaughter Kristin Nichole Goodrich. She is survived by her dearest husband of 50 years, Paul Joseph Oliver; her dearest siblings: Charles (Chuck) Jr. and his wife Sue Simpson, Bill and his wife Linda Simpson, and sister Nancy and her husband Danny Johnson; her beloved children: Colleen Marie and her husband Marion Dale Waller, Beverly Ann Lambert, and Fay Beth and her husband Jeff Conley; her cherished grandchildren: Nichole Marie and her husband Chris Gonzalez, Brie Ann and her husband George Phillip Buentello, Tara Lynne Goodrich, and Lauren Ruth Ordway; her precious great-grandchildren: Christopher Roy Gonzalez, Tristian Exavier Gonzalez, Allie Renae Winn, Braiden Phillip Buentello, Gabriel Jaeden Winn, Blake Ryder Buentello, and Brooke Amaya Buentello; and many loved nieces and nephews.

The Oliver family would love to give a special thank you to CHI St. Joseph's in Bryan for the care and compassion given to their blessed grandmother during her final days.

To honor the life of Joyce Marie Oliver, a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 11:00a Beacon Baptist Church, 2001 E. Villa Maria, Bryan, TX 77802. Her ashes will be later laid to rest in Dexter, MO alongside her father, mother, and brother.
