Janie Lynn Wallace
1/1/1950 – 5/4/2014

Janie Lynn Wallace, a warm, gracious, and selfless person beloved by many people, laid down to rest Saturday night and quietly passed in the early morning hours of May 4th. Family and friends will gather Wednesday evening from 6-8pm for visitation. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 8th at Hillier Funeral Home - 2301 E. 29th St. Bryan, TX 77802 with Rev. Henry Thomas and Rev. E.E. Garvin officiating. Interment will follow at College Station Memorial Cemetery.

She was born in Gainesville, Texas to Leonard and Velma Milam. She held the distinction as being the first baby born in Cooke County at 2:40am on January 1, 1950.

Janie had many careers in several different cities. She was a free spirit who appreciated the finer things in life. She was perhaps best known for her love of music. At the age of 8 she took her first piano lesson and was hooked. She began playing piano in the Church and never stopped.  For the last fifteen years, she was the organist at Washington Chapel Baptist Church. On any given Sunday, she could be found sitting behind a church piano or organ with a smile on her face. There was a certain beautiful, peaceful calm that came over everyone around when she performed.

Janie met the love of her life, Glenn Wallace in 1986. They were married 28 years.  Janie never had children of her own, but she was a second mom to all her nieces and nephews when they needed someone to confide in, shoulder to cry on, or just to be goofy with. Janie could light up a room with her warm smile right to the end. Loving, gentle, kind, classy, she is sorely missed.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Glenn Wallace; her father, Leonard Milam; and her brother, Jerry Milam.

She is survived by her mother, Velma Cluiss of Lewisville; sister, Wanda York of Lewisville; brother, Stephen Milam of Sanger; several nieces and nephews and a multitude of people who call her friend, and her beloved four-legged girls, Amanda and Lexi.

The family would like to thank everyone for their kind words, well wishes and contributions in our time of grief. In lieu of flowers, an expression of sympathy can be sent to Hospice Brazos Valley, 502 W 26th St. Bryan, TX 77803, 979-821-2266.
