James Milberger

James B. Milberger, 87, of Wheelock, went to be with his Lord on Friday, October 25, 2013.
James was born June 13, 1926, in Wheelock, TX to Emma (Scasta) and Vince Milberger.  He graduated from Franklin High School and served his country proudly with the U.S. Army.  While he served many tours, moving every two to three years, some of his favorite assignments were at Fort Sam Houston, TX, Frankfurt, Germany and Tapei, Taiwan.  He received numerous awards and citations during his service, including the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, Bronze Star Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, National Defense Service Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Joint Services Campaign Medal, and Army Commendation Medal.
On April 30, 1949, he married the love of his life, Helen F. Luza and began with her a life of traveling with the Army, rearing children, and finally pursuing their passion of fishing, farming and raising cattle back in Wheelock on the farm from which he was raised.
James was reunited in death by his most precious wife of 63 years, Helen, his parents, Emma and Vince Milberger, and brother, Raymond Milberger.  He is survived by his children, two daughters, Linda Voiland and husband Gene of Bakersfield, CA, Debbi Hoehn and husband Dave of Sierra Vista, AZ, one son, Mike Milberger and wife Carla of Cypress, TX, seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and his grand dog.  Also surviving are sisters-in-law Bernice Milberger and daughter Evelyn Francis and husband Buddy of Wheelock, TX, Tracy Horn of Fort Worth, TX and brother-in-law Anton Luza of Bryan, TX.  He was particularly thankful to and grateful for the many cousins, nieces and nephews who called and visited and helped with the technological advances he tried to master.
James spent his life loving and caring for his wife, Helen and providing for his family.  He was proudly independent, a faithful servant to the service of his country and proved to be undauntedly resilient during the later years of his life.  He will be missed by those who loved, admired and respected him.
Private family interment will be at the Wheelock Cemetery, with a family remembrance memorial to be held at a later date.
