Emil Robert Haisler
October 18, 1918 – April 8, 2013
Emil Robert Haisler, 94, of Bryan, TX, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2013. Visitation will be Thursday, April 11, from 5:00-7:00 pm at Hillier Funeral Home with a Rosary recited at 6:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 600 E. 26th Street, Bryan on Friday, April 12, at 11:00 am, with Msgr. John McCaffrey presiding. Interment will follow at Msgr. Gleissner Mausoleum in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Emil was born in Caldwell, Texas, and grew up in Burleson County. He served in the U.S. Army, 663rd Tank Destroyer Battalion in Ft. Hood during WWII. He was a farmer and rancher and especially enjoyed gardening with his Allis Chalmers G series tractor. He was a long time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 70 years, Rosalie Piwonka Haisler; son, Robert L. Haisler of Bryan, daughters, Diana Thweatt Miller and husband Ron of College Station, Peggy (Locke) Haisler of Bryan, Carol Goldsmith of Carrollton; grandchildren, Jimmy Locke and wife Tonya, Shannon Locke, Tiffany Thweatt, Phillip “Scooter” Thweatt, Chelsea Goldsmith, Brandon Locke and wife Miranda; and one great-grandson, Killian Locke.
Emil will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and friend and he will be deeply missed.
